Another program with a very similar problem is Melker - The Elk Hunt by
Wihlborg Entertainment, which was marketed as Moose on the Loose by
eGames/Greenstreet games. A demo can be downloaded from
http://www.wihlborg.se/melker_the_elk_hunt.html

After installing, run melker.exe. Instead of a picture of Melker the elk near
the top of the window, that area is blank (grey). In virtual desktop mode the
picture does appear for a moment, before it is overwritten.

Similar to the Disney programs, when not in virtual desktop mode moving the
window causes the picture to appear. When in virtual desktop mode, if you drag
the window so any part is off the screen and back, the picture appears. (I
guess because the window is sent a message to repaint/redraw itself?)
