a Wine problem.
After some research and it seems a plain DVD/R won't work anyway for dumping
Wii media.
There only exist some PC DVD drives that can dump Wii DVD for whatever pirating
purpose.

Use a LG-8164b or LG-8163b or LG-8162b or LG-8161b dvd drive. It might even
work with other hitachi drives with GDR in their name (just try, but don't
complain).

If you are not using any of these listed drives please don't bother with
something questionable that neither Linux kernel nor Wine can do.
I was able to see a simple data disc with the application though the dumping
obviously fails because the application expects a special media layout.
