I'm not arguing that, but it needs to be accessible for non-expert users to
help in the development effort. The installation you described seems simple
enough, but it's not always clear (for a non-tech user) what to do.

ANYWAY. I have just upgraded to an Nvidia GTS250 and the problem has completely
disappeared for me. All other system settings are identical except for running
off the proprietary Nvidia drivers rather than the ATI Radeon drivers.
