I can confirm that the problems with displaying subtitles in italic font happen
on my workstation running wine1.2-rc2. Affected games I had tested are latest
Steam version of HalfLife 2 and latest Steam version of Portal.

Incorrect font rendering looks just the same as on the first sceenshot attached
to this bug report.
