An interesting workaround: Find a (nearby) FL Browser link that does work and
right click it, but be careful not to select anything in the pop-up menu. 
While the (unrelated) pop-up menu is still open, left or right click on the
non-working long path/folder/file name, and it will work as expected (for that
click only).

This would seem to suggest that there is a race condition, rather than a text
length processing problem.
