I don't know.  I've given up on the whole thing.  Somewhere along the line
there were further issues with blacked out icons in the file dialog box.  As a
some-time sysadmin I also wasn't happy about the attitudes to lack of test
environments when support for do-tests was abandoned.  So I've just resorted to
patching 1.1 so that it works & left it at that.

However I'll take a look at the code & get back to you.
