On Windows, TREPCAD behaves as follows:

Upon startup, the stair selection child window is displayed without any
controls and has the focus. The main window is in the background, all window
controls are displayed and not greyed out; the main window itself is (as it
does not have focus). Clicking the main window's controls doesn't do anything.

As soon as I select a stair, the child window disappears and the main window
gets the focus. The window controls get active then.
