I have found another program which shows this problem: Lord of the Rings War of
the Ring (Sierra/Liquid Entertainment)

Run Autoplay.exe from the game install disc. If the virtual desktop resolution
is set to 800x600 (say), the initial window appears partly off the virtual
desktop, so the buttons are not visible or clickable.

A demo (~120MB) can be downloaded from

Unfortunately, the demo doesn't show the problem. At least, running it appears
to install then gives this console output:

The same happens when running Setup.exe after installing the demo; no window
appears then the console output above.
