I was also getting this bug when using Play On Linux.

However, without POL (without a wine prefix), the game ran and passed the
install error.

I am not sure if it is Play On Linux or using wine prefixes.  L4D2's DRM check
or whatever doesn't like it.

1.1.43 Confirmed working with a straight wine (using ~/.wine) install.

Confirmed NOT working when using play on linux, with 1.1.33 - 1.1.43.
