Can confirm this. Trying to start the game again and again may result in the
game actually starting without problems, but that takes about 20-100 tries.

I remember this was not an issue with an older kernel. Also this only seems to
happen when using the nocd patch. Without nocd patch the game just hangs. Of
course if you get it running without the nocd patch, the game still won't be
usable.

Gentoo Linux 32 Bit
Kernel 2.6.32

All I can add is that it does not seem to have to do with the wine version or
the commits. I already had this problem about 6 months ago but then gave up on
the issue.
