I have copied the program from the CD to the Desktop on a clean install of Mint
9 (based on Ubuntu 10.04). The file's execution bit is not set and will not
run until changed.

When the file on the Desktop has it's execute bit set and run using a right
click and "open with wine Windows program loader" it produces the same error
"requires IE4 or later" as before. So no difference if run from from the
Desktop or mounted CD.

Ubuntu have introduced a number of feature-bugs in 10.04 one of which is to
stop the execution of programs on a CD unless mounted as shown in the
attachment. (You can't right click a program on a CD and open with wine.) I
don't know why but there is probably a good reason!

Hope this helps. I check emails daily if you need more. Thanks for your
efforts, if I can't get memory map to run I will have to stick with the 32 bit
version of Mint 9.
