New, clean, basic install of Xubuntu 10.04 on older 256MB 400MHz Celeron. 

Wine 1.1.42-0ubuntu4 from us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages 

When launching winecfg or a Windows app, opens window for app, then starts
opening infinite "error" windows that are blank. Only way to stop is to
restart.

 managed to kill the wineserver process while running after only 13 error
windows: 
WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid winecfg &> ~/tmp/output.txt
