Yes it does work on Windows. It's important to install NFS5-3.5.20040310.ZIP
though.

Moreover demo from this site
http://download3.gamershell.com/filehell/0919fb179c211d3ebd400ae03a6ad0444cdd7aa100110e/demo/nfs5onlinedemo.zip

does work on MS Windows XP without renaming gimme.dll but you have to set
compatibility mode to Windows 98. The same action fails in Wine.
