I think this is a pulseaudio or ALSA bug.

Reason is that sound works fine for me, and hasnt failed like it has for you,
but that I can also force it to stop working. When wine/wow is not running, I
go to a website that ... has live flash videos with sound, but is not youtube.
When I am there, the sound will cut out randomly and then just completely stop.
But the rest of my OS sound still works, just for the video feed. Then I go to
start WoW later but no sound in WoW (sound still works fine in OS) until I
reboot.
