I re-installed everything (steam and the game) in a fresh WINEPREFIX, and the
issue is still present with wine-1.3.17.

It is very frustrating because it seems it affects only me, and i really have
no
clue on what's going on. Again, any hint on the debug switches i should use to
see some meaningful error message would be nice!

please.... Help!
