I experienced the same bug now, after I wanted to test the new PTR.
I guess this bug only happens, when SC2 checks for an update and founds it is
out of date and then wants to start the patcher, but fails at it.
I tried different things and found, that it is working, when I compile wine
with USE="-gnutls -ssl" flags, tested with wine-1.3.24.
