Please try the game again with any Wine versions >=1.3.33.
I can reproduce the problem with the demo version, using the reported
Wine-1.3.28, and up to 1.3.32.
1.3.33 as well as 1.3.34 display text correctly for me, so there is a chance
this is fixed for you too.

p.s: may I ask what video card and driver you're using? Seeing the screenshots
in Appdb I noticed that many in-game elements are rendered correctly in your
screenshots (e.g. the mini-map, the weather reticle and others). Those are
either missing or completely black on my system. Have you installed any native
components?
