I can kinda confirm the problem here on Fedora 16 and with Wine-1.3.34.
For me, keyboard is not working at all in the main game (neither <Esc> nor any
other keyboard shortcuts).
Most of the buttons in the user interface don't get highlighted and are
unclickable. The only button which is clickable is the <End Turn> button, but
clicking on it has no effect.
Also, when hovering the mouse pointer over a button, no tooltips are showing
up.

The problem persists with Wine-1.1.6, 1.2.3 etc.
