I am experiencing a nearly identical bug with Heroes of Might and Magic III
Complete (GOG.com version).  I'm currently running openSUSE 12.1 x86_64; my
video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650, and I'm using only open source
drivers.  The game installs but crashes upon launch.

I apologize sincerely for my ignorance, but I would like to help and I do not
know how to obtain a debug log (or whatever it's called).  If the next poster
would be so kind as to let me know what command to type to obtain a log so I
can attach it, I would be much appreciative.

I'm new to Linux and I'd like to learn more but I'm still a quite the newb. 
Growing up on Windows has rotted my brain methinks.
