I removed the manifest as described in the comments, and there's still a
problem (unimplemented function msvcp90.dll) that causes Kindle to crash when I
attempt to open a downloaded book.  I'm running Fedora 16
(3.1.5-6.fc16.x86_64), with Kindle version 1.8.3, and
wine-1.3.33-1.fc16.x86_64.
