I was looking at the new interface,
https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine

If you look at the dates of each message,
you'll see there's only about one spam message
per day.

There seems to be about one real user message per week.  It's very low traffic.
 I wouldn't be opposed to removing the link, given the low usage.  (But I do
have a soft spot in my heart for Usenet; it used to be the whole world.)
