screenshot, error message
Audio is working fine in the main menu of the game. When you start a new game
(or the tutorial) and make your first move on the strategy board, the game
throws an error dialogue saying audio will stop functioning (see attached
screenshot about the exact text of the message).
The game doesn't crash, it keeps on running but without audio.
The game installs native openal32.dll by default. Overriding it to native is a
workaround.
I have Wine with Openal support (openal-soft-1.12.854-1.fc14 from the Fedora
repos)
My ./.alsoftrc contains:
drivers = alsa
I've tried with ALSA full / emulation settings; with OSS: the result was the
same.
Nothing relevant in the terminal while running the game.
How to reproduce the issue in the demo:
1. The installer of the demo requires at least .Net 2.0 (winetricks dotnet20).
Interesting enough, the game itself doesn't require .Net, so it can be tested
in a clean wineprefix if you copy the installed game into a brand new
prefix...it runs out-of-the-box.
2. Start a new match or the tutorial from the menu. Move one of your characters
to an available square on the table: when it reaches its destination the game
will pop up the error message and sound will be gone.
