series number (to eliminate that as a variable), get a copy of your WINE
configuration settings (to eliminate that as a variable) and to  get more
details on your hardware (specifically the graphics card) - the latter is the
most likely factor.

7. Finally, you seem a pretty hi-tech kind of guy so you probably run updates
regularly, but do try, from terminal
sudo update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
to make sure you have the latest kernel and video drivers
