Thanks very much Dan. You have nailed it......on the button. Just to give
e-Sword the full picture I am repeating all the steps (instructions) I used on
the terminal to install my Bible on Linux Ubuntu.

sudo apt-get install wine
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
rm -rf ~/.wine
winetricks mfc42
wine setup991.exe
wine niv.exe  (or whichever bible is used)

I will bring this bug to the attention of e-Sword
