you probably tested with a recent version of LOTRO client.
Unfortunately turbine has removed that old client this bug started with, it
seems no more accessible:

I still have that old version around, it needs .NET Framework 1.1 in clean
WINEPREFIX, no native gdiplus.
Indeed most of issues discussed here seem to have been resolved - unfortunately
this bug mixes several of them.

The game update still has issues: connecting, examine and updating (patching)
seems to work.
At the point of "examine game data" it gets CLR StackOverflowException

Not sure if this bug should be still pursued as the original launcher is no
more available.
Also this issue is different and not mentioned here.
I'd rather close this bug and start over with new ones.
