I'm experiencing something similar as well. The game launches fine, shows the
starting videos, the "press any key" part, the menu, but after I create a
profile and start the game, it locks up with the view of Earth - first rendered
frame.

The console outputs this (640 times, of course):

fixme:d3d_shader:print_glsl_info_log Error received from GLSL shader #640:
fixme:d3d_shader:print_glsl_info_log Vertex shader(s) linked, fragment
shader(s) linked.

I can also hear the music, but it seems that nothing happens, because I don't
hear the voices and such. Furthermore, it seems that if the virtual desktop is
enabled, it locks up as well (if I put the mouse in the window, it disappears,
and the game does not react). Using Ctrl+C in the console kills it
successfully, though.

Setting Depth Of Field off doesn't help.

Using fglrx, Catalyst 11.5, Wine 1.3.20, openSUSE 11.4.
