I have this game and I am getting the problem.

Is there anything that I can do to track the issue down, provide further
information?
I am willing to spend some time on it.

Traces? debugging?

I don't think it is related to the Safedisk copy protection. It looks like it
correctly identifies the disk and moves onto graphical issues.
