[Bug 6894] PoivY client fails to log in

testing with 1.3.20 gives unhandled page fault on write access during login.
app continues to run though.
finally app hangs with following errors:

err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0xd9bfa0 "?" wait timed out in
thread 0049, blocked by 0048, retrying (60 sec)
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0xd9bfa0 "?" wait timed out in
thread 004a, blocked by 0048, retrying (60 sec)
