I've built .31 and it does produce somewhat distorted sound, but the
performance hit is pretty major.
I've installed Fedora Pulse-fied .18 (The only thing readily available for me)
and I get perfect sound and far, far better performance when sound effects are
active.
Here I need guidance: should I open a separate bug report about this
(regression? mmdevapi rewrite? DX regression?) or would you rather track this
issue in this bug report?
