Alas, now (1.3.31) that mmdevapi does not fill audio with silence anymore, the
bug that ALSA may not start when given samples shorter than its period raises
its ugly head again.

Try playing StarFury's Demo\Sounds\UIButtonPress.wav and it'll hang like the
old winmm did.

Perhaps we should not reopen this issue and create a new one.
