Your speculation is right, i made the test with two accounts. Account 1 has
prior characters, Account 2 has no character.

Account 1 shows the splash screen permanently (or a white screen if the files
above are renamed).

Account 2 shows the server list when the two files are renamed. I'm able to
choose a server but when i click select, i hear a sound and then nothing
happens. When the files are not renamed i only see the splash screen but i can
hear the server list is behind when i do a mouseover where it's supposed to be
