Still present in wine-1.3.26 with Ubuntu Intrepid.
Another strange effect: if I start metacity after xterm and wine, switching to
wine's desktop window will not turn everything black. Instead the screen
behaves like a monochrome one and some of winecfg's tab content is visible, as
well as xterm's and xclock's content (all B&W despite ls' colourful listing).

Activating xterm's window and all colors look normal again, even Wine's about
glass (except 8bpp is not enough to render all its red gradient).
