The tracks play smoothly and seem like nothing is broken, I don't have access
to a linux system at the moment so I can't retest, but the difference between
the codec being registered correctly and not is that certain .ogg based samples
in demo tracks which use them aren't played, but the rest of the music is. 
It's really not noticeable unless you play them side by side, which I
originally did using vbox.
