Unrelated to this problem, but that package lacks mp3 support, so if you have
broken sound, that may be why.

You're using mesa (and a fairly old release at that). The 3d performance in
that driver may simply not be enough for this game to run, though I'll defer
judgment on that for someone that knows 3d better.
