The behavior isn't quite the same, the error code is different ;)  At this
point I don't know what the problem is:  when I test WinVerifyTrust with an
empty file, it fails on Windows as well.  So perhaps the file shouldn't be
empty, and the bug is not actually an authenticode bug.

What happens if you repeat the same actions on Windows?  Does the same file get
created?  How big is it?
