I use nVIDIA TwinView dual monitor setup at home and have no problems playing
games. The only trick I had to use is to setup separate metamodes for each
resolution I want to be able to play fullscreen (i.e., while normally I've got
both monitors active, one @1280x1024 and second @1680x1050 resulting in
2960x1050 metamode, I also set up two separate metamodes each having only one
of the monitors active at it's native resolution). Emulating virtual desktop
had been required only for a couple of games I had ever tested under Wine, one
was Eve Online and I can't remember now which was the second one.

To the bottom line: I'm seeing this bug without emulated virtual desktop and
without enabling automated capture of the mouse cursor for full-screen windows.
The only trigger is (a) to have Steam running and (b) to have a full-screen
game. Game hadn't be related to Steam, for ex. I've seen this bug in Starcraft
II, Angry Birds and NFS4:HS having Steam running at background under the same
wineserver.
