I am using Kubuntu 11.04. 
I can reproduce the problem when KDE desktop effects (compositing) are turned
off (this is the case for wine 1.2.3, 1.4, 1.4.1, 1.5.10). When I turn on
effects, the problem goes away, and the window appears as a transparent window
during resizing and moving of pictures inserted in MS Word and MS PPT files.
