Ok I did some investigation with different Wine versions and 1by1 Player 1.75,
here it is:

1.2.1, 1.3.1, 1.3.8:
These versions basically don't work, the song doesnt even start playing.
    DirectSound: hangs and prints
"fixme:dsalsa:IDsDriverBufferImpl_SetVolumePan (0x1a71c0,0x1a68e0): stub"
    WaveMapper: Just hangs

1.3.17, 1.3.25, 1.4.-rc1, 1.4-rc4:
DirectSound: Plays one song and crashes when stopped or asked to play
another, this is basically the original bug
WaveMapper: Works fine like I described before

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 with pure Alsa, no Pulseaudio. On a related note, later
versions of Wine present a lot more Output Devices in the 1by1 settings and
most of the ones related to Alsa work ('default' for example).

Jorg, if you need some crash dumps or some other stuff I can try to get it. I
can even try to get a regression test going between some of these versions if
you want, but it may take some time because I have limited access to a computer
and the internetz right now.
