Bug #: 29524
Summary: Firefox 9.0.1 crashes immediately
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.28
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs at winehq.org
ReportedBy: wu.m at arcor.de
Classification: Unclassified
The windows program that I run under Wine creates HTML files locally and
invokes Firefox (to be exact, Firefox for Windows, installed under Wine) to
display them. This used to work well with Firefox 8.0. When Firefox upgrades
itself to 9.0.1 (which it does for me since January 2012), I get a message
The program firefox.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to
close...
and the Firefox window is not opened. The terminal shows
wine: Unhandled illegal instruction at address 0x1a4000b (thread 0025),
starting debugger...
I can then restore Firefox from a backup, and all is well for awhile.
I encountered the problem with Wine 1.2; I am now running Wine 1.3 and the
problem still exists.
