I can reproduce the problem on my system, using a Nvidia gfx card with the
proprietary driver (290.10)
Performance drops considerably when the HUD is turned on. This is more
noticeable with screen resolutions >1024x768.
The mouse pointer is also more sluggish in the menus than it was with
Wine-1.3.28.
The car selection screen also shows a slowdown compared to 1.3.28.

Performance was steady with 1.3.28 whether the HUD was turned on or off, and
regression testing resulted in
