I managed to install and start IBExpert trial (download link added to url), but
I couldn't find a way to open the SQL Editor window: that option was always
greyed out for me.
I see something similar to the reported problem when I open the SQL Monitor
window (Ctrl+M) and begin typing in the text field. You have to type really
fast to reproduce the problem in that window.
With my normal typing speed, characters appear instantly. Only when I'm
pressing a lot of keys in quick succession the problem occurs (there is a
noticeable delay).
