The problem with the error messages on startup can be reproduced with the demo
version as well (download link added to url).

According to my testing, this is a regression from Wine-1.3.28:

The crash when exiting the game could be a different problem, and that seems to
be another regression somewhere between 1.3.25 and 1.3.27.
