the workaround, not a fix, a workaround is to manually edit file called
IERenderer.fff in the pegasus directory and comment everything out.  once that
is done, pegasus functions again but w/o html capability.

however, it is still a bug since new users who install pegasus are left with a
crashing application and will not know what the problem is.
existing users who upgrade to 1.5.x are in the same boat.
to get pegasus going, it requires users manually edit appl files, bastardize
the app's functionality and cripple html rendering.  
i'm including another debug report for developers to see what it looks like
after ierenderer is taken out manually.
