I'm not the original poster, but I'll give some information anyway.

I just installed 1.5.8 and it hasn't changed anything (the bug is still
present). My Xorg version is 1.11.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 x64 (kernel 3.2.0-26).
Haven't tried the demo version, but will give it a go sometime today.
