I also have now seen this message since I've gotten Shogun 2 to actually load
again. It appears only in the battle screen and does go away after a minute or
two. I wonder if its related to Civilization 4 not believing it can find Steam
either...

Either way there is no terminal output beyond the normal Steam ones you have.
Happy to retest this with debug flags once I know which ones you'd want to see.
