I am also experiencing this bug (at least I think it is) 

Except mine suddenly happens usually after some big effects are used in the
game and makes everything go dark. 

It's like hero and allied vision no longer exists and everything is covered by
fog of war.

It doesn't happen at the beginning of the game for me, only about half or a
quarter way through but once it does it's permanent until game restart
