Still present in 1.5.9.  Also, some of the menu items which have submenus (Save
as, Print) are also supposed to be menu entries that you can click, which
should make them perform the action with the default options, instead of having
to select an entry in the submenu.  Using Wine, if you click these menu entries
nothing happens apart from the menu closing.

(let me know if I should file this as a separate issue, but it seems closely
related...)
