The error message 'Save game failed, do you wish to quit?' still occurs for me,
tested with wine-1.5.9-267-g8f108a0 and with the GOG.com version of BG II.
Just like in comment #31, I can't reproduce the problem when the game is
installed on my external hdd, but happens on my internal (sata2) disk (both
partitions formatted as ext4).
As said in comment #32, the problem is somewhat inconsistent: the first
auto-save always works as well as the subsequent manual saves. The error
message appears when I load a previously saved game and try to perform a manual
save.
