Keep parsing failure from causing a segmentation fault

The attached patch should fix the segmentation fault.  However, I don't know
what this particular index file quirk is supposed to do.  Do you have a Windows
installation where you can check and see what the index is supposed to look
like and compare it to what Wine generates?
