Ok, so I decided recently that I would go ahead and change back over to Ubuntu
from Win7 once SWTOR was found to be working. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu
10.04 Lucid Lucy. I started out getting wine 1.4 and making sure to get the
build dependencies, and then updated my nvidia drivers to the most current
version. I then compiled a version of wine-git with the proof of concept patch
and performed an override on the dlls with wine for the d3dx9_36 dll and the
vcrun2008 dll.
After all that and of course, much more customization of Ubuntu's look for me.
I decided to go ahead and install SWTOR. The install went through and I
renamed the LoadingScreenIcon.dds and the LoadingScreen.jpg files to be
preceded with the extension ".bak". From here I loaded the game and am now
stuck at a black screen. I would continue to troubleshoot whats going on here,
but I am getting extremely tired and have taken every possible step that I can
take. Carefully and slowly... I don't know how to run debug logging, but I
don't mind doing it. With the drivers, the git build, the renamed files, and
the ability to get all the way in game... I suspect I should be able to get to
the server list at least and get turned away because I didn't compile my git
build properly or something, but I should be getting past where I am right now
at the very least.
Thank you for any assistance!
